👩🏾‍💻 About Me

As of January 2020, I'm a Ph.D. student working on Machine Learning and some really cool tech that will make the future internet connection much better, especially when you have A LOT of smart devices..
Also, I'm really into cool new smart tech gadgets!!

What I'm working on

  1. 👩🏾‍🎓 As a Ph.D. candidate, I'm working on cognitive radio networks using machine learning to provide better internet connectivity for the future IoT networks.
  2. 👩‍🔬 I'm also doing an internship at Ericsson that focusses on applications of machine learning to future telecommunication networks.
  3. 🌐 I'm developing Scientific Reviews and Ratings for all the scientific research papers to be reviewed and rated by the community publicly with star ratings. My vision for doing this is to make scientific research easier, quicker, and more reliable for everybody.
Update: This project has gone stale due to lack of interest from the community.
  4. 📚 I help students get to their dream universities for higher education through coaching and counseling. I also help them review their graduate school applications, highlight their potential in their resume, and get the scholarships they deserve.
  5. 🎬 I have a Youtube Channel where I share my life as a female Pakistani engineer from a conservative family and my journey of overcoming family pressure and social obstacles to studying engineering abroad.
  6. 📬 I read a lot of books, listen to a lot of podcasts, and watch a lot of cool tech reviews, so in my upcoming Reflections emailing list, I will be sharing a line or two about something fascinating that I found during the previous week, or something that is going to change my life. Let me know what you think of the idea.

Things I care about

  1. 💁‍♀️ Women empowerment: It took two and a half centuries to end slavery, why is women empowerment taking even longer? Women in my country are forced into marriages against their choice, forced to choose career paths based on the "norms" of society, denied inheritance, and sometimes even denied basic education. Harassment of women on the streets, in workplaces, homes and public places is extremely common. Women in my country deserve better. Women everywhere around the world deserve better. I'm working with organizations like World Vision to put a stop to child marriages around the world, and with CAGIS to promote STEM education for Canadian girls. I also co-founded IEEE Women in Engineering branch at ETS.
  2. 📖 The right to education for every child: and it should be theirs regardless of country of birth, the income of the parents, gender, race, and societal norms. I co-founded and volunteered for SAYA school, where we brought together out-of-school children whose parents were homeless and too poor to feed them and had to send their children into child labor.
  3. 🏃🏾‍♀️ Physical fitness: I started taking care of my mind and body through mindfulness, workouts, eating healthy, and having a consistent sleep schedule. I share my journey, tips, and tricks to stay on track, and things that keep me motivated on my Instagram stories sometimes, so feel free to join the journey to be better.

Get in touch with me

  1. 🐦 Twitter: If it is a short message, tweet me @SadiaKhaf, and I always do my best to reply as soon as I can. Occasionally I check my DMs but that's rare.
  2. 🎥 Youtube Comments: I read 100% of your comments and try to reply to as many as I can but there are only 24 hours in a day.
  3. 🗓 Coaching Appointment: Head over to Book an appointment if you have questions about graduate study and need help.
  4. 📩  Email: If none of the above work for you, send me an email at support@sadiakhaf.com with the subject [None other works]. I read all the emails, but there is only enough time to reply to 10%. If you use any of the other ways I mentioned before, the chances of you getting a reply are higher.
  5. 🤝 In Person: If you happen to be in Montreal downtown and promise to get me better coffee or drink than I've ever tasted before, then email me at support@sadiakhaf.com with the subject [let's get coffee], and if it's not my exams time, we can figure something out to meet in person.
